Not every stay is a contract or a project. Sometimes you need somewhere decent to live for nine days and the options are a motel on the highway or imposing on family.
Meadow River Lofts takes short stays. Same furnished apartments, same full kitchens, same on-site laundry as our longer bookings — just for a shorter window. If you need less than a month, this page is for you.
Why people book under a month
Short stays come from every direction. The most common reasons people call us:
- A short work assignment. A two-week outage, an inspection trip, a training rotation, a crew in for a quick job.
- The gap between homes. Closing dates slip, movers run late, and suddenly there's a ten-day hole between one house and the next.
- Family in town. A wedding, a funeral, a graduation, a new grandchild — anything that brings people in for longer than a weekend and more comfortably than a spare room.
- Staying near someone in the hospital. Families supporting a patient at a regional facility often need a week or two somewhere with a kitchen and a washing machine.
- Home repairs or displacement. A burst pipe, a roof job, or storm damage that makes the house unlivable for a stretch.
- Visiting the New River Gorge. The park is about 45 minutes away, and a week here costs less than a week closer to the rim.
- Trying the area out. People considering a move who want more than a day trip before deciding.
A kitchen matters more on a short stay than you'd think
It's tempting to assume a kitchen only pays off over months. In practice it starts earning its keep in the first week.
A family of four eating every meal out for eight days is a serious expense, and that's before anyone accounts for the hassle of finding somewhere open at the right hour in a rural county. Being able to make breakfast, pack lunches, and cook a normal dinner turns a short stay from an endurance test into something closer to ordinary life.
The same applies to laundry. Even on a ten-day trip, cashless washers and dryers on your floor mean you pack half as much and arrive home without a suitcase full of dirty clothes.
How flexible short terms work
We take stays by the night and by the week, and weekly rates are priced better than the equivalent number of nights. There is a minimum stay, and it varies by season and availability — ask when you inquire rather than assuming.
Availability is the real constraint on short bookings. Longer stays get committed further ahead, so what's open for a specific week depends on what's already booked around it. The earlier you ask, the more likely we can fit you in — but it's always worth calling even at short notice, because gaps between longer stays open up regularly.
For last-minute needs, call rather than emailing. You'll get an answer on the spot instead of waiting on a form.

For a short stay, the efficiency is usually the sensible choice for one or two people. Families and groups generally want the two bedroom.
If a short stay turns into a long one
It happens constantly. A two-week job becomes six weeks, a closing gets pushed a month, a short assignment gets extended.
Tell us as soon as you know and we'll try to keep you in the same unit rather than making you move. If your stay crosses into a month or more, we'll re-rate it at the longer-term price rather than continuing to charge you weekly.

What if I need to extend past a month?
Tell us as early as you can. We'll try to keep you in the same unit, and a longer stay gets re-rated at longer-stay pricing.
