Meadow River Lofts sits in between: a furnished apartment in Rupert, West Virginia, with a full kitchen, on-site laundry, and rental terms that match the length of an assignment instead of fighting it.
We host healthcare travelers working across southern West Virginia — nurses, techs, therapists, and allied health staff placed at facilities in Beckley, Summersville, Lewisburg, and the surrounding counties. Most are with us for the length of a contract, and a good number extend.
Why nurses choose an apartment over a hotel room
The math on a 13-week hotel stay stops working around week two. Not because of the nightly rate — because of everything the room doesn't have.
- A real kitchen. Every unit has a full kitchen with a refrigerator, range, cookware, and dishes. When you're working three twelves, cooking a few meals on your days off is the difference between eating well and eating gas-station food.
- Laundry on your floor. Cashless, card-operated washers and dryers in the building. Scrubs get washed when you need them washed, not when you can find a laundromat.
- Room to actually live. A separate living area matters when you're off shift and don't want to sit on a bed.
- Quiet. This is a small building in a small town, not a highway motel with a parking lot full of doors slamming at 6am. If you're sleeping days after night shift, that matters more than any amenity.
Lease terms that match a contract
We rent short-term, mid-term, and long-term. In practice, most healthcare travelers take a mid-term arrangement that runs the length of their assignment.
If your contract extends — and travel contracts extend constantly — tell us and we'll continue the stay in the same unit when it's available. You shouldn't have to repack and move across town because a facility added six weeks.
If your assignment is cancelled or cut short, talk to us. We'd rather work something out than hold you to weeks you aren't there for.

Rupert sits just off Routes 60 and 64, which is the practical reason travelers end up here. From our door, most of the region is about 45 minutes:

Booking through an agency or employer
If your staffing agency arranges housing directly, have them contact us. We can invoice an agency or employer directly rather than billing you and making you expense it. We regularly work with recruiters placing multiple clinicians in the area, and we can hold more than one unit when a group is arriving together.
If you're taking a housing stipend and arranging your own place, you'll deal with us directly — which is usually simpler and faster.
Common questions
Do you rent for 13-week assignments?
Yes. Mid-term stays covering the length of a travel contract are one of the most common bookings we take. Send us your start and end dates and we'll confirm availability.
Can I extend if my contract is renewed?
Usually, yes. Let us know as early as you can and we'll try to keep you in the same unit. Extensions are common enough that we plan for them.
Is the apartment furnished, or do I need to bring anything?
Fully furnished — bed, seating, dining table, and a complete kitchen with cookware and dishes. Bring clothes and personal items.
How far are you from hospitals in Beckley and Summersville?
Both are roughly 45 minutes by car. We're near Routes 60 and 64, which keeps most facilities in southern West Virginia within a reasonable commute.
Do you work with travel nursing agencies?
Yes. Agencies and recruiters can book on a clinician's behalf, including multiple units for a group placement.
Is there laundry, or do I need a laundromat?
There are cashless, card-operated washers and dryers on the same floor as the apartments.
